Gemma talks about how she made the video for BOO!
The ILOVEUKE students at Recreation Road have been learning the uke with me for 6 weeks. So far they have learnt the chords,
C, Am and F. So I was thinking, "3 chords. That's enough for a song, right?!" But I fancied doing something original and new this term. So I thought we'd try a song for Halloween. I came up with the chords and asked the children to write some lyrics (I'm not so great at writing lyrics). Within a week, over the 3 groups, we came up with the song 'BOO!'. I recorded them singing and making scary noises on my iPhone and, with a little help on the strumming from my Tuesday Avenues Uke Group, pasted it all together. I then added some drums and some sound effects in Garageband, and I'm pretty happy with the result. Even better, I realised that while being recorded in their Halloween gear at home, they are actually getting a bit of practice in too. Sneaky! (Insert evil laugh here) Thanks to all the parents that helped with the clips, I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I did making it. Don't have nightmares....
LYRICS:
Halloween, Scary Screams, Trick or Treat, Lots of Sweets, It's time to scream and shout, So get your pumpkins out, BOO!

Norfolk Ukulele Tutors’ Practice Sharing Evening
Tuesday 24 January 2017 6-8pm The Garage, 14 Chapelfield North, Norwich NR2 1NY Cost: £5 for refreshments Booking: 01603 283382 Info: info@iloveuke.co.uk Calling ukulele tutors in Norfolk – this event is for you! ILOVEUKE has teamed up with The Garage to offer a 2-hour training/networking evening for ukulele tutors. Get involved for some repertoire exchange, warm up ideas and tips for working with groups. You can tell us what else you’d like us to cover by completing this quick survey. The evening is funded by Youth Music, so it’s primarily aimed at tutors who work with children and young people, but if you work with adults you’re welcome too. The session will be facilitated by Ian Brownlie, a uke player and community musician with a wealth of experience in working with children and adults. The ukulele is becoming increasing popular in schools and we’re getting lots of enquiries from all over Norfolk - so we’re exploring whether it’s a good idea to set up an informal Uke Tutors’ Network for practitioners in Norfolk. The aim of the network would be to keep each other informed of training and work opportunities, or potentially work together on projects. If you’d like to be involved or would like to share your views on what the network might look like please can you complete this short online survey. ILOVEUKE are running our first training event for Norfolk ukulele tutors at The Garage in Norwich on January 24th 2017.
Please follow this link for more info or to book your place. Please email clara@iloveuke.co.uk for more info. We look forward to hearing from you!
