Here’s our School of Uke video and song for this term!
We’re so proud of what the children have achieved, especially as this was their very first project of its kind, all created within just one term. The journey began by exploring different songs together, choosing one that felt right for the group, and deciding who wanted to take on which roles, from solo singers to camera operators.
From there, the students threw themselves into learning the song, building confidence on their instruments and stepping up for solo parts. They were introduced to the recording process using a microphone and interface (with plenty of laughs when hearing their own voices back for the first time!), before getting hands-on with filming techniques using iPads - experimenting with camera angles and becoming more confident on screen.
We recorded ukulele and vocals to a guide track, added a simple drum beat, and brought everything together into the final video you see here. The creativity, teamwork and enthusiasm throughout the project have been fantastic to watch.
We can’t wait to see what next term brings - with plans for a summer-themed project and even some original songwriting from the students!
