Absolute beginner's guitar tuition
We have found that that the ukulele is a fantastic foundation for children wanting to progress to the guitar.
Emma and Gemma are offering taster lessons for children ( aged 7 upwards) and adults that might be interested in trying out the guitar before committing to regular lessons.
Small scale electric guitars or 3/4 sized acoustic guitars are provided in the lesson and we've found that this is the ideal size to start on (both for children and adults!). We also use a small amplifier in the lesson and the student can switch from a clean sound to distortion at their leisure via a distortion pedal.
During the lessons they will learn all the basics of playing guitar, including simple rock riffs and open chords, simple strumming techniques, how to read simple guitar tab and chord charts. By the end of the sessions they can decide whether it's something they'd like to continue with and we can explore online lessons or look into how they can progress with another tutor either at school or privately.
No musical experience is necessary, and please note that these are informal lessons to just get you started. You will not be taught any music theory in depth or how to read stave notation etc. The aim is to inspire, encourage and just get you strumming a recognisable song as soon as possible.
