A new ukulele group for home educated young people aged 11-14 is starting in Norwich in September 2020.
Please email clara@iloveuke.co.uk to register your interest. Once we've got a small group together we'll agree on a suitable day and time. Assuming we have a minimum of 7 people the cost will be £5 per person. A risk assessment will be carried out before we start to make sure everyone is safe during the pandemic. The ukulele is a great introduction to learning instruments. We'll cover everything you need to know to get you started. We'll tailor the sessions according to the interests of the group. More information (venue, dates, time, etc) will be posted here when we have it.

Young and old sang together when Mulbarton Primary Uke Cub visited elderly folk in Swardeston last week. The nine children from years 5 and 6 played songs to an appreciative crowd at Edith Cavell Day Centre. There was much audience participation with the older folk joining in on You Are My Sunshine and Yellow Submarine. Afterwards the children enjoyed a much deserved glass of squash and chatted with the day centre clients. Julia Jones from the centre said: "Thank you for giving us such a cheerful, fun afternoon and showing us your uke skills! "The clients really enjoyed the time chatting to everyone afterwards too. We must not forget to say thanks to the parents for helping with the transport arrangements." You Are My SunshineA big well done to The Tuesday Strummers on their performance at Uke-O-Vision on Saturday night. Representing USA, nine of us dressed up in our finest Western outfits and played a Cowboy Medley which included three Tuesday Strummer favourites - Oh Susanna, Jackson and Red River Valley. Much fun was had watching the other countries perform before delivering our scores. The winners were France with a hilarious reworking of the Ian Dury and the Blockheads classic Hit Me With Your French Baguette. We also smashed the buffet, made good use of the cheap bar and attempted a barn dance. A great night all round! Big thanks to the organisers and everyone who took part. Yee-ha!
This 5-week course is for players who have attended our beginners course and want to carry on!
We will cover:-
Places are limited to 6 participants so you will get the individual attention you need while enjoying the benefits of learning to play with others. Our Tuesday Strummers group enjoyed a wonderful festive strum-along and meal at The Shoemakers in Norwich this week.
We usually meet at Harford Community Centre on Hall Road on Tuesdays 11.30-12.30pm. The aim is to provide a fun and friendly environment to play well known songs at a gentle pace. New strummers are welcome. We start back on Tuesday 8th January. The cost is £5 per session, payable in advance. Please click here for more info. |
